Tarr Hill Beagles was started in 1963 when Jim started breeding and field trialing his dogs. The most notable Tarr Hill field champion was Tarr Hill Come Helen Highwater. She was a field champion herself and every puppy born to one of her litters became a FC. Then, after marrying, Jim and his then wife decided to give the conformation ring a whirl and again was very successful. A lot of today's dogs have at least 1 Tarr Hill bred dog in their pedigree. In 1980 through 1993, Jim took a break from the show ring. But, in 1993, Jim and his new wife, Jane, decided to get back into dogs but started with Wire Fox Terriers. In 2004, at a dog show in West Virginia, Jim saw a line of beagles that reminded him of days gone by. So, Tarr Hill Beagles is back!
